The iPhone 15 is just around the corner. As the launch date gets closer, rumors are circulating faster at a larger scale.

Indeed, no one knows what exactly the iPhone 15 case will look like hitherto. But it’s always fun to see people make speculations on the most-talked-about device. And if you’re on the fence about whether to upgrade to the newest iPhone or not, these rumors could give you a glimpse of the iPhone 15 design to help you make the decision now.

iPhone 15 Design

One of the earliest rumors we’ve heard is that Apple will finally ditch its proprietary Lightning system and switch to the universal USB-C charging system after years of struggle with the EU law and suggestions from many iPhone users.

Rumors from different sources and leaked pictures make this rumor seems more likely to happen than many others.

Rumors also suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro models will get slightly curved edges, making the iPhone 15 look more like the iPhone 11 series, other than the recent models with a straight-sided design.

Starting from the launch of the iPhone X, Apple began using stainless steel on high-end iPhones, but that may change with the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Reports are saying that the iPhone 15 Pro series is expected to see an upgrade to titanium frames. That means the iPhone 15 Pro series could be lighter and more durable. Take a look at its smartwatches. Apple offers titanium and stainless steel cases for Apple Watch. The 45mm stainless steel model of the Apple Watch Series 8 weighs 51.5g, while the weight of the titanium version is 45.1g.

iPhone 15 Features

iPhone with a thinner bezel has been expected by many people. By far, the iPhone 14 series has the thinnest bezels of all iPhone models. But like us, many people want to see it disappear, which may not happen in recent years.

This year, the iPhone 15 Pro models will probably feature thinner bezels than its predecessors and the standard iPhone 15 models.

A Twitter user claimed in July that Apple could use stacked battery technology, as used in electric vehicles, on the iPhone 15 lineup. But a few days later, that he was sure the stacked battery technology was destined for the iPhone 16 lineup.

In fact, before the Twitter user’s claim, about improvements in battery capacity coming to the iPhone 15 series have surfaced in China. Both the entry and high-end versions of iPhone 15 could feature significantly larger batteries this year. We can expect an increase of battery capacity between 10% to 18%.

Undoubtedly, the iPhone 15 lineup will support MagSafe, which was first introduced with the iPhone 12.

Besides, all iPhones support Qi wireless charging since the iPhone 8. Qi is an open, universal charging standard created by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). And Qi2 is a new wireless charging standard based on the same idea as Apple’s MagSafe that uses a similar technology related to magnets to provide faster and auto-aligned wireless charging.

With Qi2 compatibility, we can wirelessly charge the iPhone 15 models at 15W speed using non-MagSafe third-party Qi2 wireless chargers.

iPhone 15 Colors

Apple usually offers five colors for iPhone at launch. Earlier, we heard talks about a green iPhone 15 and a pink iPhone 15. Light blue is also a possible color option.

In late July, leaked information from Apple insider ShrimpApplePro revealed that the iPhone 15 will come in three new colors: green, light yellow and pink.

Rumors about new color options may keep coming before the big day comes.

iPhone 15 Release Date

Going by tradition, Apple usually holds the autumn launch event in September that’s focused on iPhone, Apple Watch, and iPad. Sometimes the event could be postponed to October or even November when something goes amiss.

About a week ago, a global securities analyst at Bank of America claimed that the launch of the iPhone 15 could slip into the fourth quarter due to supply chain problems.

We’d take this rumor with a pinch of salt for now. Delaying the launch of the new iPhone would seriously scramble the company’s Q3 financials, so we’d like to think that Apple is going all out to avoid the delay of such an important product. And if, unfortunately, the problems can’t be fixed, Apple can still hold the event in September, accept pre-orders for the iPhone 15 lineup, and ship them in October. It happened to the iPhone 14 Plus last year.

iPhone 15 Pro Max or iPhone 15 Ultra?

As early as March, there were talks about the iPhone 15 Ultra. Some rumors suggested that the 6.7-inch iPhone pro model would be renamed as “iPhone 15 Ultra”. As time went by, those rumors kicked the bucket.

We humbly believe Apple only uses a new name for its iPhone models unless there are some tremendous updates. And according to the rumors we’ve heard so far, “the iPhone 15 Pro Max” can expect some improvements, but does it make the most powerful iPhone 15 model “ultra”? We doubt it.

That said, we’d welcome Apple blows our minds away with an “iPhone 15 Ultra” with jaw-dropping features.
